Students at Green’s Karate train in a structured environment that has helped develop athletes competing in events sanctioned by USA Karate. For families looking for karate training in Chattanooga, our program combines traditional instruction with a disciplined and supportive learning environment.
Head instructor Corey Green has also served as a national referee with USA Karate for nearly three decades, giving students the opportunity to learn from an instructor trusted to judge the sport at the national level.
With 29 years of teaching experience, our programs help students build discipline, confidence, and real martial arts ability step by step.
Choosing the right environment matters more than choosing an activity.
This page shows exactly what a first visit looks like so you and your child can decide comfortably.
You can also read about the instructor and our history at any time, but most families prefer to first understand what will actually happen when they walk in.
Green’s Karate instructional approach has been recognized nationally and internationally through documented media coverage and professional interviews
Additional context on our instructional history and recognition can be found on our Media and Authority page.
You can read about the instructor before beginning.
When you’re ready, we invite you to begin your training journey at Green’s Karate.
NO COMMITMENT
- You’re not signing up. Just visiting.
- No pressure. No awkward conversation.
- See if it’s the right fit first.
Your First Visit | What Actually Happens
We keep the first visit simple and comfortable.
You are not joining a program yet.
You are only seeing whether this environment fits your child.
Here is exactly what the visit looks like:
1. Arrival
Wear normal clothes (sweats/short and a t-shirt), no uniform needed.
We check you in and greet your child first so they feel comfortable right away.
2. Brief Introduction
We talk with both you and your child to understand personality, comfort level, and goals.
3. Short Guided Lesson
Your child tries a few basic activities:
- stance
- balance
- coordination
- listening drills
They are not thrown into a full class, and nothing is forced.
4. Learning Style Observation
We watch how they respond — not athletic ability, but how they learn.
5. Recommendation
We explain what type of class environment would help them most.
6. You Decide Later
No pressure conversation.
Some families start right away. Others go home and think about it. Both are completely normal.
WHO THIS WORKS BEST FOR
Who This Program Helps Most
Every activity fits certain personalities better than others.
This teaching style works especially well for:
- shy or quiet children
- easily distracted kids
- analytical thinkers
- kids who struggle in team sports
- strong-willed personalities
- beginners with no experience
- kids who need structure but not pressure
- children building confidence
Athletic ability is not important here.
Willingness to try is.
Why We Start Differently
The quality of a child’s first instruction determines how they perceive discipline, learning, and progress for years.
Early experiences shape expectations. Structure teaches focus. Standards build confidence.
Starting correctly matters. That’s why our program begins with a short consultation rather than immediate class placement.
Who Is This For:
Green’s Karate is designed for students and families seeking more than an activity.
- Students who benefit from structured, disciplined instruction with clear expectations
- Families who value responsibility, consistency, and long-term development
- Athletes interested in progression, competition, or personal mastery
- Individuals who respond well to high standards paired with thoughtful instruction
- Students of varied abilities who are willing to fully engage in the learning process
Our instruction is built for those prepared to commit to growth, accountability, and purposeful training
If this sounds aligned, the next step is a private consultation to ensure expectations and goals are clearly understood.
Who This Is NOT For
(Standards and Expectations)
This program is not designed for everyone and that is intentional.
We are not the right fit for families who are looking for:
- A drop-in activity or short-term distraction
- Instruction without expectations or accountability
- Environments where behavior is excused rather than addressed
A program where progress is measured by attendance alone
Our instruction is built on standards first, regardless of age, experience, or diagnosis.
We work successfully with athletes across a wide range of needs including; autism, wheelchair use, visual impairments, and Down syndrome—not by lowering expectations, but by holding consistent ones.
Before instruction begins, the following must be present:
- A supportive and aligned family environment
- Commitment to a long-term process
- Willingness to reinforce expectations outside the dojo
Martial arts is a powerful outlet for stress, anxiety, and difficult days.
It is not a place for unmanaged aggression, repeated disrespect, or disruptive behavior.
If your goal is meaningful growth inside and outside the dojo, you may be in the right place.
If not, we respect that and encourage you to find a program better aligned with your needs.
All new students begin with a private consultation to ensure proper alignment and expectations.
How Instruction Works Here
Instruction at Green’s Karate is structured, intentional and accountable.
- Progression is based on demonstrated understanding, not time or attendance
- Standards are maintained without lowering expectations
- Consistency and responsibility are emphasized over novelty
- Instruction is adapted in method, not in outcome
- Development is measured over time, not rushed.
This approach allows students of varied abilities to train together while being taught according to how they learn best, without compromising discipline,
structure, or integrity.
Before enrolling, families should discuss expectations and consistency across all households. Martial arts instruction works best when adults are aligned and committed to the process.
Next Step: Private Consultation for New Students
All new students begin with a private consultation.
This allows us to:
- Confirm alignment with expectations and standards
- Understand the student’s needs, goals, and support structure
- Determine whether this program is the right fit before instruction begins
This is not a trial class.
It is a professional consultation designed to protect outcomes for the student and the integrity of the program.
